.44 Magnum aka Fruit’s 44th Birthday Q

The Bog 12.28.2021 Backblast

QIC: Fruit of the Loom

Pax: Chef Boyardee, Dirty Mike, Little Debbie, Pineapple, Retro, Ron Swanson, Trash Panda, Wham-O

Pax warmed up prior to opening prayer so we could get right into the workout.

The Thang:

Quick mosey to a plush (dry) grassy area behind the baseball diamond.  We moseyed by a couple cones that were conveniently placed about 44 yards apart and then we circled up and got to work.

First round (of 4), all workout cadences called by Q.  All 11 exercises were done on a 4 count, or F3 count cadence so we could hit that magic 44 number in lots of different ways.

11 f3 count SSH

11 f3 count merkins

11 f3 count don quixotes

11 f3 count flutter kicks

11 f3 count plank jacks

11 f3 count squats

11 f3 count burpees

11 f3 count arm circles forward

11 f3 count mountain climbers

11 f3 count box cutters

11 f3 count lunges

After completing all 11 exercises, all pax got into a plank and attempted to hold it while each pax took a turn and ran from the cone that was right outside our circle and down to the other cone 44 yards away.  I’m sure some pax held a beautiful plank the entire time, but YHC was not in that group.  #goals

Second Round, repeat 11 exercises again, with cadence counting rotating around the circle, so each man could have the experience and so that all pax didn’t hear the Q sucking wind. All pax then held a squat while each pax ran from cone to cone, although we shortened the distance to around 22 yards, so we would get 44 on the down and back.

At this point the Q realized we were going to run out of time if we continued the way we were going, so we shifted to straight count cadence for the remainder of the workout.  Straight count Don Quixotes seemed to cause a bit of confusion but we adapted and overcame.

After the 3rd evolution, all pax performed a 6 inch hold (with their eyes closed) until the pax before them returned from their cone run and tapped them.

4th evolution of 11 ended with all pax lining up and running down to the cone and back, then down to the cone (which had gotten a little closer), then down and back again to the cone which had gotten even closer, rinse and repeat until the cone was about 5-10 feet away.  Then all pax bear crawled to it and back, gathered their gear and meandered/moseyed back to the flag.

Arrived back at flag with 1 minute to spare, so we did 11 big boy situps to finish the morning.

COT:

Q thanked everyone for coming and shared Romans 15:1, which says “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.”  For the Q, this verse seems to really encapsulate the F3 process.  You start off weak, and not as fast or strong as the pax that have been in F3 for a while, meanwhile they come, not to please themselves, but to lift us up out of our weakness.  Eventually, you are borne up out of your weakness, into  strength and then you start the process over with the next FNG.  We leave no man behind, and the reminder is in the portion of the verse about not pleasing ourselves.  We want to come and work out, and run and push ourselves, but our duty is to help the weak and lift them up.  No verse encapsulates the concept of “it’s not about you” as well as this one.

Pax seems to be doing well. Birthday wishes were offered, prayers were asked for travelling mercies, and everyone was super sweaty and covered in grass,

Prayer: Wham-O

Pledge.

Note, the Q is open for the next 3 weeks. Trash Panda has it on the 25th.
