The Thang:
Line Drill Warm-up
The Most Awful Suicide Drill
Starting at the base of Georgia Street, run straight up to the first intersection and come back to the start. Run up to the second intersection and come back to the start. Keep going until you reach the top and come all the way back. If you finish early, then you pick up the 6. By the way, doing that is about 1.33 miles of distance total. (That may or may reappear again…)
Hungry, Hungry Hippos
Two teams were created of 5 PAX each. Four buckets were paced on each corner of the basketball court. Two buckets on the respective sides were assigned to the two teams. 12 tennis balls and 1 5# medicine ball were lined up in the median between the two sides. On the command go, everyone grabs one of the balls and brings it to his team’s buckets. Once all the ball in the center are gone, you can go ahead and steal a ball from the other team and run and place it in your bucket. You must place it in the bucket. You can only carry one ball at a time. Ball must say near you at all times unless it is placed in the budget. You may not throw or roll the ball.
Needless to say, there was a ton of foul play, including stealing extra balls from my hamper and rolling the medicine ball to the bucket. On the second run of the game, the first travel was a bear crawl. On the third run of the game, the first travel was a crab walk.
The team on the side near Miccosukee was the winner each time. There may have been an unfair advantage of that particular side.
COT
I forgot to mention this at COT. I always draw a blank at what I really wanted to say. Anyway, when push comes to shove, this was the practical application of a suicide drill. The game needs some work to be better. I can see us playing this at another AO…
I always like to “game-ify” workouts to have a little fun while still getting a good amount of work done. The average distance among the group was about 3.8 miles.
I have officially Q’ed all 10 AOs as well as all 17 time slots at least once this year. It is a difficult but not impossible feat. Traffic is great that early in the morning that you can make record time from North to South (or West). It does cause some disruption as you have to make adjustments outside of your status quo. That is part of the fun and challenge of it all.
It is always a pleasure to serve every one of you.
