AO: Fred George Greenway Park (“Westside”)
Date: 6/1/21
QIC: Fruit of the Loom
PAX: Red Elephant, FNG James, Whammo, Wiseguy Chef Boyardee, Retro
Lord’s Prayer
Warm-Up:
No warm up, we got right after it.
The Thang:
We started out with 3 rounds of weighted exercises, with decreasing reps each round (20, 15, 10) : Curls, Squats, Triceps extensions, Front Raises, Rows, Chest Press
Admirable work from the PAX who did Murphs (as in more than 1) yesterday.
After everybody’s arms were good and tired, we moseyed over to the walkway down to the lower parking area and did something dumb. Q jumped up on the railings for the walkway, in a high-arching sort of plank position that crossed from one side of the walkway to the other, and beckoned the PAX to follow his lead. Once everyone was spread out over the walkway, the Q jumped down and side shuffled beneath the over-arching PAX in a modified Tunnel of Love. After all PAX had gone through the tunnel, we did it again. At this point, weak arms and broken railings prevented us from repeating the entire length of the walkway as the Q had planned, so we moseyed down to the other end and worked backwards for one more round (it was supposed to be two more rounds but our spacing was off).
Then we moseyed down to the lower lot for some DORA action.
We split into 2-man teams (with the exception of the Chef, Retro and Wiseguy team who pretended to be 2 men) and took turns running while partners did Merkins, Squats and Crunches. Each group completed 100 of each exercise and we moseyed further around to the gravel trail that leads back up to the main parking lot.
At the bottom of the gravel trail the Q had the bright idea to lunge up it and run back down, twice. At the top of the gravel trail, Q had the idea that a side shuffle back up would be a better idea. Lunges and shuffles completed, we moseyed back to the flag for a couple of rounds of ab work to finish off right at 6:15.
COT:
There was a lot of good, strong work put in this morning, especially from those that had done Murph workouts yesterday. Thanks to the PAX for going along with my dumb idea as well. As Q I have often found myself struggling to find anything motivational to say to the PAX during COT, but I heard a quote during Sunday School this weekend that I thought was very apt, at least for me. “No Christian ever falls beneath today’s load. We only fall when we borrow tomorrow’s trials, without the benefit of tomorrow’s grace.” That really hit home with the me, as someone who tends to look at tomorrow’s issues and let myself be overwhelmed with them today. This even happens from time to time with F3 pre-blasts that I let discourage mefrom attempting the next day’s workout. The PAX seemed to be in good shape and mentally (but not physically) rested after the long weekend. We were reminded that as an AO we have been operating for a month now so it’s official, and time for us to get our site Q finalized, as well as to make sure that we continue to work on men in this community to make sure this AO grows.
We pledged, then Chef prayed us out (because I can’t ever remember which order to do it in)
Thank to all that showed up and worked,
Fruit of the Loom
