Tetris HIIT – not your childhood game

Date: 4/27/2021

AO: Gilchrist

QIC: Dimples

PAX: Grillz, Hawaii-50, Billy Madison, SS Minnow, ManGuy, Recount, Red Elephant, Count, Private Ryan, Striker, Evel, Zoolander, Crablegs, Gameboy, Houdini, TastyKakes, Slaw Dawg, Cathy, Doc T, Big Gulp

21 men were intrigued enough to show up for a Tetris HIIT workout including a few lost souls returning to the gloom. Unfortunately this was not the iconic game from your childhood (or Cathy’s college days), rather a 50 minutes of embracing the suck.

Warmup:

Didn’t happen to Billy’s complaints…….

The Thang:

S&B to Tetris block pile and circle up for HIIT workout. 10 rounds of 45 seconds of work with 20 second rest in between with a slight tipsy Russian speaker whose count was off on the Beats Pill. Next time I’ll use Spanish. After each circuit, the PAX completed 1-2 laps up the stairs and around the building while planking at end for last man.

Rounds included:

Overhead Tetris Press

Tetris Squats

Tetris Curls (each arm)

Burpees

Tetris Swings

Flutters w/ Tetris above chest

More Burpees

Mike Tyson’s

Mountain Climbers

American Hammer/Russian Twists

For the 3rd circuit we had to stop at 5 rounds due to time constraints and finished with a new invention called the Tetris Burpee Swing Press. PAX would move into burpee position, legs out, push up, jump up, grab Tetris stone, swing through legs, then overhead press. Pretty sure Doc T added a squat as well . . . 10 reps were completed by all.

Put the Tetris blocks away and mosey back to bus ramp for Crableg’s famous calf burner “Dirty 30” which didn’t disappoint.

30 Calf Raises

30 Pigeon Toe Calf Raises

30 Chicken Toe Calf Raises

30 Flamingo Calf Raises per leg

With 2 mins to go, PAX completed a 200 yard sprint to the flag with wobbly legs and tight calves. Finished right on time at 0615!

COT:

Excellent showing today with both old, regulars and new faces making up the 21 PAX. Today’s workout was designed to allow each PAX to push as hard as they could, while offering opportunity to ‘let up’ as needed. Overall very impressed with everyone’s effort.

Few words were shared in COT as many still catching breath, but prayers for Crablegs as he continues some appointments this week, and Slaw Dawgs friends daughter with illness. Cathy continues to share #DadJokes and added some great humor as we wrapped up. Moral of the story, have patience and it’s always better to clean twice than once.

Until next time,

-Dimples
