THE THANG: Captain’s Log, this 22nd Day of April, in the Year of our Lord 2025
At five bells and twenty-five minutes past the hour, we did make sail from safe harbour, our course set upon a most curious mission: the pursuit of the elusive mariners Angus and Reno Nine-One-One, who had stolen a march upon us by near half an hour, their voyage stretching ten kilometers into the unknown.
Our company, stout of heart and salt-kissed by prior storms, did consist of the ruckers Mensa, Chewy, and Dammer, each laden with burdensome cargo of great weight and mystery. They bore it with no complaint, save the occasional curse cast to the wind.
Tensions stirred when I, the captain, did chart a bold and controversial course – one that stirred dissent amongst the ranks. The scallywag known as Cathy did, with great miscalculation and little sense, attempt a mutiny ‘pon the main deck . Alas for him (and fortuitous for the rest), he fell not only in ambition, but bodily — flat on his face beneath the warm glow of the ship’s lanterns, his shame on full display for all hands to witness. His rebellion died then and there, like a fire quenched by the tide.
Upon return to port, our fleet did reconvene with much cheer and merriment. There, the men made discourse on the particulars of their respective voyages, but soon the conversation turned to stranger tides.
Subjects included: a most vexing contraption known as a “croc-ticle,” the jesting merits of a figure called Napolean Dynamite, and whether his tales, comedic in nature, have withstood the withering gales of time.
Thus ended the morn, with laughter echoing through the rigging and the scent of coffee.
