THE THANG:

Mr. Dynamite is more than just another dumb routine. It’s a story or you might even say a history. It has been handed down between regions with each one adding their own bit of flair. But where does it come from? And that my friends can be found in it’s name.

It originates from a work out in Augusta, GA called “The River of Tears” and as some people know the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, hails from Augusta, GA. So we affix his explosive moniker as a tribute to it’s origin and an indicator of it’s impact.

If you’re ever in Augusta on a monday. Be sure to partake in the “ROT” and your appreciate for Mr. Dynamite will only increase.

Here’s our adaptation of the notorious workout:

1 Exercise: Dynamite Complex 

  • Movement: Sandbag ‘Merican → Clean & Press → Squat
  •  Progression:
    • Round 1: 1 rep  every other parking stripe
    • Round 2: 2 reps every other parking stripe
    • Round 3: 3 reps 

 Levels:

  • Level 1: Ruck/RPC/Vest OR Sandy
  • Level 2: Ruck/RPC/Vest AND Sandy

 Goal:
21 stations
45 minutes
 AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible).
