Pre-Ruck: Polo, Dry Hop, Pineapple, Trash Panda, Fruit of the Loom, Crayola, Wiseguy, Iron Horse

Originally we had 7 ruckers at 0600 but then Iron Horse came out of nowhere and found us along the way on our way from Chiles High School. I wanted to get the true distance between Bannerman and Chiles for a future workout. Every decision has some kind of purpose (usually).

The Thang:

After Lord’s Prayer, the count was 18 PAX. We laid out 9 of the Cindies (no half Cindies allowed) and I brought a bunch of tools to chain the Cindies together. The PAX got that done and we brought the chained Cindies and the 50# slam ball over to Bradfordville Church.

I will say that it is very difficult for me to put all this in words. You kind of had to be there.

We split into two separate teams. One will be traveling with the chained Cindies, the other will be moving with the slam ball. In the slam ball activity, the PAX get in a single file line and move forward towards the slam ball. Once the person in front reaches the slam ball, he throws it as far as possible and then moves to the end of the line. No PAX can move ahead of the slam ball.

Both teams went in opposite directions to meet each other. After the first round, we did some PT with half of the team using the blocks and the other half with just bodyweight. Afterwards, we switched tasks. There was always PT when there was a switch made.

After we went through one round of both activities, I made both teams race each other. Obviously the team bear crawling to the slam ball will get less distance. It was hard to gauge the approximate distance that would make the teams competitive. I ended up favoring the other team much more.

With the PT with the chained Cindies you had to move in unison otherwise you will get instant feedback. We did squats, overhead presses, and lunges with the chained Cindies.

When time was running short we moved to the bottom of the hill back up to Bannerman Crossing and had the slam ball thrown up the hill. The other team carried the Cindies back up.

Once the slam ball reached the top of the hill, it was carried back to the flag along with the chained Cindies. Once there, we put the Cindies down and did a quick shake-and-bake with the 50# medicine ball. Chef decided to go beast mode towards the end.

At 0801, Man Guy decided to do yet another topper with 10 MF-ers (5 SSHs + 1 burpee).

COT:

I had no idea how this was going to turn out. I would give myself a C- because there were some confusing things happening (some of which were done on purpose). I wanted to get everyone working together and solving a problem without me having to spoon feed you the solution. I almost did a few times. Basically, the goal for me was just give you objectives and the team had to execute. No one was also assigned to be a leader, so it was interesting to see what happens when everyone talks at once versus someone leading. This was somewhat of an experiment.

Prayers that everyone’s 2021 ends on a good note. We have much to look forward to in 2022.

Prayer (Iron Horse)
