“Rescue Mission”
QIC: Wiseguy
PAX: Ron Swanson, Little Debbie, Cathy, Crab Legs
The Thang:
“Rescue Mission”
A field with approximately a 50-100 m span is needed.
All PAX, except for one, lie supine on the ground on one side of the field. All of the coupons and rucks are also set on this same aside. One PAX is the leader of the evolution and starts 50-100 m from the other PAX. The leader runs over and selects another PAX to be “rescued” utilizing a carry (i.e. fireman carry, buddy drag). Once the leader brings that PAX to the other side, that PAX is “rescued” and can join the leader in “rescuing” other PAX or getting coupons. Pattern continues until every PAX and every coupon are retrieved. The evolution is complete when all PAX make it to the other side rucked up in proper formation, and the coupons are neatly organized in front of them. While the PAX are waiting to be “rescued,” a Cadre situated on their side will call out exercises meant to be done “on your 6” (i.e. situps, flutter kicks, etc.)
Multiple PAX can be used for a carry if desired. Multiple items can be carried at once if desired. This workout can be done as a competition amongst teams.
If there is extra time, you can rerun the scenario with a different leader to start the evolution. You can also change up the travel method to low crawls or bear crawls.
Since the PAX were so good at this workout and there were not that many of them. We decided to try something else. While I was thinking about what else to do, I practiced the proper commands for an F3 Q (“the next exercise is…”, “starting position move”, “in cadence”, and “exercise”).
I re-set up the field to mimic the Sprint-Drag-Carry in the ACFT that I did over the weekend. This was by far the most taxing event of the 6. We dragged the heaviest two sandbags. We farmer carried two rucks. The order is as follows:
25 m sprint and back
25 m drag and back (ACFT is 90# sled)
25 m lateral shuffle and back
25 m farmer carry and back (ACT is 40# KBs in each hand)
25 m sprint and back
Since we did not have enough coupons for each individual to do it at the same time, we relayed each stage so PAX got a short break in between. In ACFT, you run through each stage in succession.
Once we tired ourselves out a bit, we ran through the “Rescue Mission” one more time. This was followed by a recovery ruck at the end to kill the time and get some extra distance.
COT
Thanksgiving Convergence will be at Datamaxx in the Southwood area at 6:30 am before the Turkey Trot
I will be heading to Ohio for Cadre Academy in the cold on Dec 3. Hopefully, I come back as a Cadre-in-Training. The whole weekend will be tough.
Little Debbie talked about the funeral for young Geo, friend of Little Debbie’s 2.0. Prayers for Geo’s family and friends
Swanson’s M is busy traveling a lot as the company she works for is being sold.
Cathy’s M (weird thing to say) is slowly recovering after finishing the 50 mi Star Course in Jacksonville
Crab Legs killed the mood with something inappropriate.
Prayer (Little Debbie)
