Gilchrist Ruck Workout – 10/28/21

Warmup- Seriously no warmup. In fact, we actually set out from the flag around 4:58 am.
Work: We put our backpacks on and left campus. Headed over to the Jos. A. Banks shopping center for some 11’s.
Start with 1 Backpack Burpee at the foot of the stairs. Up the stairs and mosey/shuffle the upper level to the other stairs and go down the stairs. Do 10 merkins with your backpack on. Back up the stairs continue the upper level back to the original stairs and go downstairs again. This time we did 2 Backpack Burpees. Lather, rinse, repeat in increasing/decreasing numbers each side. At one point, we each picked up a tetris block to carry with us while we shuffled. A variety of carries were used for the blocks to keep things spicy. On the last set, we swapped the big tetris blocks for the small bricks and did a lap with those.
To make the time go quicker, we did share a few good dad jokes that turned out to not be dad jokes. The answer to the question asked in the title of this backblast, in case you are wondering, is a brick.
Only made it to 8 Backpack Burpees and 3 Backpack Merkins before we had to mosey back to the flag.
COT: All is well with the pax. FOTL was suffering from indigestion. Crayola likes to play in the rain. Prayer’s for Willie’s fam/friends and a general warning to never make Willie angry as he has discovered a homicidal tendency he never knew he had. Angus’ wife is doing great so he now feels better about ignoring her. Swanson went to bed at 6:30 pm yesterday and now gets to head south to spend some time with his wife.
Couple books mentioned during COT about bible study if anyone is interested. How to Read the Bible For All It’s Worth, and How To Read The Bible Book By Book. Both by Gordon Fee. If you are pretty familiar with the bible and want something interesting to make you revisit how you interpret the bible, Searching For The Pattern by John Mark Hicks is another great one. He also writes what I think is one of the best books written about the role of women in the church. That book is Women Serving God.
