The Thang:

In celebration of my 200th post and 50th Q, we will do alternate between 200 reps and 50 reps of exercises in a deck of 20 cards.

All of the exercises were relatively easy, but doing 200 of anything can be challenging.  I did in slip one card of burpees.

What is the probability of not selecting the burpee card if 5 cards are to be selected?  75%

What is the probability of Ron Swanson picking the burpee card first? 5%.  That is exactly what happened!

The next card that was picked, 50 reps were completed.  Every odd card picked was 200 reps. Every even card picked was 50 reps.

Between each card, we traveled to a spot in Cascades Park by either buddy carrying or wheelbarrowing (switch off as needed).

Summary of the cards selected are below:

  1. 200 burpees (Florida symbol) (took about 23 minutes to complete)
  2. 50 switch kick (each leg) (Korean War memorial)
  3. 200 high knees (each leg) (Amphitheater stage)
  4. 50 lunges (each leg) (Large American flag)
  5. 200 American hammers (each side) (Florida symbol)

I ended the workout 4 minutes early for a job well done.

Debrief:

  • Your brain will tend to quit before your body will.  200 reps of burpees is a daunting task.  If you can break it up appropriately and take it one rep at a time, you can overcome it.  The next time you are asked to do 10 burpees, it will be a walk in the park.
  • After the burpees, every other exercise seemed like a cakewalk.  200 American hammers were pretty tough for me though.
