DATE: 12/07/2019
AO: Cascades Park
QIC: C-Note
PAX: Pebbles, Tinkerbell, Crab Legs, Private Ryan, Peter Pan, Hawaii 5-O, Napoli, Shelby.
WARM-UPS: Frankensteins x 10, IW X 10, Grady Corns x 10, Hillbillies x 10, SSH x 20.
During warm-ups, QIC advised PAX that In remembrance of the attack on Pearl Harbor, QIC developed a routine around the date of 12 – 07 – 19 – 41. The routine was developed w the idea in mind as to the sheer chaos as to what was going on at that time of the attacks. *PAX were previously instructed to bring multiple coupons identified as “debris” for this morning’s post, and did not disappoint, as PAX “Shelby” actually brought a car muffler to the AO.
THE THANG:
Using the # 12, PAX instructed to do 12 “2×4’s”. This exercise starts as a burpee where PAX plank, do 2 pushups, followed by 4 (4) count mountain climbers, followed by completion of the burpee= 1 rep.
(This exercise symbolized the servicemen as well as civilians dropping down for cover when the attack started, scrambling on the ground or the wet decks of the ships, trying to get their footing as the ships were listing, and ultimately sinking. The completion of the 2×4 (jumping up at the end of the burpee showing the men were up and ready to fight).
RINSE
Using the # 7, PAX formed a circle facing each other, 3-4 weighted rucks were distributed and spaced between the PAX. At the start of a 7 minute running timer, and going clockwise, the rucks were passed between the PAX. While holding the ruck, each PAX squatted and then thrust the ruck overhead while standing. The ruck was then passed off to the next PAX who repeated and so on until the timer stopped. Each PAX has approx 5 seconds of rest between exercise.
(This exercise symbolized the servicemen grabbing ammo cans and hoisting them to each other as quickly and safely as possible).
RINSE
Using the # 19, PAX were divided into 3 detachments (ALPHA,BRAVO, and CHARLIE), and initially instructed to “clear the debris.” Each PAX sprinted to the debris field and took debris back to their safe port area. While on a running timer of 19 minutes, PAX were then instructed that each port (A,B, and C) had to be cleared. DET A, would lift 1-2 pieces of debris, run around bleacher section, and place in DET B port. DET B PAX would repeat and place debris in DET C port. DET C repeats, and places debris into DET A port. In this manner, no port was actually cleared as debris kept filling in.
(Again this exercise was developed w the idea of pandemonium going on. Servicemen being given instructions by their unit Commanders that conflicted with what other Commanders were telling their subordinates. Clearing the ports as well as the air strips were crucial at this time to allow for defense of the attacks)
It should be noted, in the beginning, the PAX (including QIC) were confused as to what they needed to do given although it was clear, the instruction was limited. However, half way through the PAX started to communicate not only w their own detachments, but w other detachments as well, offering help w each others’ debris. Bottom line was it got done!
RINSE and RINSE again.
Using the # 41, PAX were divided into groups of 3 (which included 1 PAX from each detachment). Working together and for the first time, PAX used 2 person buddy carries to carry each PAX 41 yards.
(This routine symbolized sailors working together to bring those killed or wounded sailors 41 yards to get care for them.)
RINSE. Back to flag
Merkins x 10, SSH x 10.
At 07:51 am, PAX were asked to stop and have a moment of silence for those military and civilian personnel who were killed on that fateful day.
DONE
COT:
PAX are well and thankful. Pebbles getting ready for travel. Tinkerbell reminded PAX about recent fatal shootings at Pearl Harbor and NAS Pensacola which occurred close to his residence. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Crab Legs reminded everyone about Santa Ruck and Elf Run later in the morning. Private Ryan looking forward to finishing up w finals, and getting to the Jags game this Sunday. Peter Pan reflected on the thought to be a righteous person you need to put in the work to be a righteous person. Related it to F3 that he takes joy in this community and that the goal and challenge is to take this mind set into other areas of your life such as family and community. 5-0 added the F3 group is here to encourage us and is happy to report he received 2 job offers recently after being off work for a bit. He reminded PAX how tough it is when looking for a job and your faith gets tested when it does not work out in your favor. Napoli is looking forward to some time in Thomasville w his girlfriend and his upcoming trip to Italy. Shelby happy to be back to post, after being out of the F3 loop for a while travelling.
