We honored the Special Forces soldiers who served in the Vietnam War and helped stem the spread of Communism across Southeast Asia. This workout was about teamwork and leaving no man behind.

Since football season is almost here, QIC found a football story to share: https://www.espn.com/espys/story/_/id/26974520/espys-2019-high-school-football-coach-rob-mendez-receive-jimmy-v-award-perseverance.

Rob Mendez was honored at the 2019 ESPYS as this year’s recipient of the Jimmy V Award. Coach Jim Valvano was known for spreading his message of never giving up.

Mendez was born without arms or legs due to a rare disorder called tetra-amelia syndrome. He was unable to play football, but he developed a passion for the sport, learning the fundamentals by playing Madden video games. During his first year in high school, he became the manager of the football team. By his senior year, he was the quarterback coach.

After finishing school, Mendez jumped between assistant coaching jobs. He knew he was ready for a head coaching position, but he kept getting overlooked. After 12 years, he got a job as a head coach for the junior varsity football team at Prospect High School in Saratoga, California in 2018. In his first season, his team went 8-2 and narrowly lost the championship game.

Mendez’s common saying is “Focus on what you can do, not on what you can’t do.”

Ron Swanson and his wife are getting ready for their 2nd baby.
Thanks to C-Note for bringing out FNG Johnny Merchado.
Great to see Mr. Mom back after a year of injuries.
Alphabet Soup has been dealing with school starting.
Geronimo was so gassed after the workout that he said he was 46 instead of 26. He asked for prayers for his Aunt Charlotte Fischer.
Peter Pan shared a powerful story about his experience with the Vietnam War draft lottery and then his emotional visit to the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington DC. He asked for prayers for all the men who lost their lives in the Vietnam War.
Impressive to see Speedo’s 2.0, Van Diesel out for his 7th workout. He said it’s much harder than his baseball workouts.
Speedo has the Q on Monday at Leon.
FNG Eddie McCardee that randomly joined in at a previous Cascades Q got his 3rd post in and was named ‘Tupperware’.
Private Ryan has been busy providing school security when he’s not doing his normal police officer duties. Thank you to him and all law enforcement for keeping our kids safe.
GI Joe is about to travel to see her daughter’s soccer game. He hopes she gets a goal for her own sake.

Ron Swanson taught AOL and Geronimo some running tips at F2 coffee afterwards. This may resurface in a future AOL Q.
