Big Loop, Core, and More (The More is Burpees that Weren’t a Surprise)

Gilchrist – October 14, 2021

PAX: Pebbles, FNG Jacob Smith, Trash Panda, Mr. Emcee, Pineapple, Iron Horse

Q: Socrates

Warmup: Windmills, imperial walkers, and SSHs got us ready to start moseying the Big Loop. On the way to the bank, we did some arm circles and got our jog on.

Work: Several stops along the way, including the following core workouts: Crunchy Frogs, American Hammers, Big Boys, WWIIs, Box Cutters. We stopped under the first overpass on Thomasville and did some wall sitting, holding the sit while everyone took turns doing 20 Jump Squats. Various exercises passed the time while we sat against the wall. After continuing, we stopped for more work, which included SURPRISE BURPEES! Once the excitement died down, we continued to the Timberlane overpass. Bear crawl to the top and do some filthy primate movements for passing motorists. What’s this? More surprise BURPEES! Most called the surprise ahead of time. Continue to the church, repent of our I-10 sins, and partner up. One person runs until he laps the other PAX, who is doing animal movements. Switch out, repeat. Continue up the hill at full effort towards Gilchrist. Calf raises at the top 10x each: toes straight, out, and in. Run back to the flag. For our topper, OUT OF NOWHERE! More surprise burpees. Finish.

COT: I called the Q for slightly selfish reasons, which I shared. My 3rd (or 4th) post, Horse led the Q on the Big Loop. About a week and a half later, someone else took us on the Big Loop. I was abysmally out of shape when I started, and these experiences imprinted in my mind a fear and disgust for the workout. So I wanted to come back and show it who’s boss. A lot can happen in a year! I’d be a worse man today if it weren’t for all of you. Thank you for the privilege of leading. Continued prayers for the young boy known by Count, Jaws, FNG Jacob Smith, etc. who is battling cancer. Prayers that he is able to come home between chemo treatments. Horse reminded us that our tongue has incredible power not only to lift up, but to tear down. Trash Panda is happy to be back after a week-long binge/bender in the subtropics. Mr. Emcee reminds us to tune into Amazon Prime for Thursday Night Football.
