Fast Feet Drills with PAX moving to the right, left, forward, back or down on QIC’s call.
Mosey to the church.
Modified version of Harley Quinn‘s. PAX starts at first goal line marked off by cones, runs to the 10 yard line and performs 10 Burpees. PAX then runs to opposite goal line and back to the 20 yard line where they then perform 20 180 Jump Squats. PAX run to the opposite goal line again then return to the 30 yard line where 30 Merkins were performed. Run to the opposite goal line again and back to the 40 where 40 American Hammers were done. Run to the goal line and back to the 50 for 50 Lunges. Continue again at the other 40, 30, 20, and 10 yard lines with the same exercises/reps above until complete.
We then proceeded down to the covered area of the church and PAX were separated into two teams, the JSU Gamecocks and Delilah’s Runners. Teams ran in opposite directions around the church (approx 1/3 mile) doing a Shake and Bake with a football. First team to arrive back to the starting line wins. Just like last week the Gamecocks were victorious against their foes. Even though JSU won, all PAX had to perform 20 Burpees. Teams ran around the church several more times but instead of Shake and Bake, PAX ran while throwing or tossing the football to their team members. Any dropped footballs resulted in all PAX on the team performing the designated number of Burpees by QIC. JSU prevailed in subsequent contests as well. PAX performed 20 Flutter Kicks at the end off the second round. At the end of the other rounds, because you can’t have a Game Day Q without Jock Jams, PAX performed Merkins on all verses and Shoulder Taps on the chorus to Queen’s “We Will Rock You” (where it sure felt like it was longer than a 2 minute song). We had to get another Jock Jam in before leaving the area so we went with House of Pain’s “Jump Around.” PAX performed Side Straddle Hops or Squat Jacks during all verses and Frog Jumps (not sure if there’s an F3 name for these) during the chorus. PAX then proceeded back to Bannerman where multiple ab exercises– Dolly’s, Freddie Mercury’s, Boxcutters, etc were called by individual PAX until time expired.
COT: QIC shared from Day 4 of the Awesome Relationships devotional on the Bible app as this goes hand in hand with the I Am Third concept promoted by Gayle Sayers, the great Chicago Bears running back, in his book of the same name and later adopted by Dredd and F3.
“Less of Me and More of You“
Selfishness ruins relationships. It is the number one cause of conflict, arguments, divorce, and even war.
James 4:1 says, “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?” (NIV). Every trouble starts because of our self-centeredness.
At the beginning of a relationship, you work really hard at being unselfish. But as time goes on, selfishness creeps in. We tend to put more energy into starting and building relationships than we do in maintaining them.
If selfishness ruins relationships, then it is selflessness that makes them grow. What does selflessness mean? It means less of “me” and more of “you.” It means thinking of others more than thinking of yourself and putting another person’s needs before your own, according to Philippians 2:4.
Selflessness brings out the best in others. It builds trust in relationships. In fact, if you start acting selfless in a relationship, it forces the other person to change. Once you’re not the same person anymore, that person has to relate to you differently. Some of the most unlovable people are transformed when someone is kind and selfless toward them—when they’re given what they need, not what they deserve.
The Bible says in Galatians 6:7-8, “The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life” (The Message).
This is the biblical principle of sowing and reaping. What you sow, you’re going to reap. God rewards selflessness with eternal life. He has wired the universe so that the more unselfish you are, the more he blesses you. Why? Because he wants you to become like him, and God is unselfish. Everything you have in life is a gift from God, because he was unselfish with you.
You experience the deepest fulfillment when you give yourself away. Jesus said, “Only those who throw away their lives for my sake and for the sake of the Good News will ever know what it means to really live” (Mark 8:35 TLB).
Many PAX are doing well. Prayers requested for business direction and several other needs.
