“F3 World Cup”

QIC: Wiseguy

PAX: Florence, Guns n’ Roses, Speedo, Peter Pan, Bambi

Lord’s Prayer @ 0525

Objective:

  • Run through all 11 soccer fields.
  • Spell as many world capitals correctly as possible to reduce the number of dice rolls after each lap around a soccer field.

Rules:

  • You have two minutes to memorize as many of the answers as possible.  All of the answers were given prior to the start.  I will only use the countries written on the list.  Many of them are countries that are in the news these days.
  • After every lap of a soccer field, I will announce a country and one person must spell the nation’s capital.  If you are correct, I will take away a dice roll.  If you are wrong, I will add a dice roll.  Afterwards, the speller must select one exercise on the list to do with the dice rolls.  The resulting dice roll will determine the rep count.  The team starts with 5 dice rolls.  (Maximum is 10. Minimum is 1.)
  • You can only use each exercise one time.  You may not repeat any of them.

Results:

  • Florence ended up being the MVP.  He got four correct and was close on two more.  Unfortunately, Google spells the capital of Ukraine, “Kyiv”, and other sources spell it “Kiev.”  However, you must default to what was written on the sheet because you were given all the answers beforehand.  Also, he almost got the capital of Cambodia but got befuddled by the silent “H” at the end of of Phnom Penh.
  • Peter Pan did get Iran correct so I will give credit where it is due.
  • Taipei, Taiwan was missed.  I did not let Florence answer it.  For the record, I am Taiwanese.  Never tell a Taiwanese person that he or she is Chinese.  You might get punched.
  • We ran through all 11 fields and covered about 3 miles.

Debrief:

  • The group had an overall defeated attitude when presented the information prior to the start.  They did not utilize the entire two minutes.
  • To be frank, I do enjoy making you guys suffer just a little.  However, I also try to help you learn something from the suffering.  You could have split up the list amongst the team so that you can focus on fewer items.   Every little bit can help.  There was a component of team building here.  I did not give that tip away at the time.
  • Fitness and endurance is not just the ability to crank out thousands of reps on a dime.  You also have to have the presence of mind to be able to use your time and energy efficiently by problem solving on the fly.  Your brain will quit before your body.
  • If Jugs were on the team, you would all be doomed.

COT:

  • We are blessed to have come out of the storm relatively unscathed.   A tree fell inBambi‘s neighborhood but no one was hurt as a result of that.   We hope that everyone fared similarly.  It was not of Hurricane Michael’s caliber but there definitely some nasty high-speed winds in the mix.
  • The trails of Forest Meadows did relatively well.  Not much debris was on the soccer fields.  I only saw one large branch fall on the trails.  Meridian had some stray branches that were easily avoidable and removable.
  • Stay tuned as the CCYS event set up by Speedo and Shooter McGavin will have some important updates coming soon!
