The Thang:
We did not have any Gator fans this morning or anyone wearing jorts so we had to just pick teams the old-fashioned way.
Rules of Capture the Flag (some changed since the pre-blast)
- The American flags were switched out for other flags so that it is now allowable to place the flag on the ground and take the flag from the shovel.
- The flags must be planted in the ground properly and securely on the shovel prior to the start of the game. The flag must be plainly visible from at least 20 yards from at least one angle. The flag may not be wrapped at any time. Once the flag is planted, the team defending the flag CANNOT touch it.
- All players must stay within the predetermined boundaries of the playing area. The roads and parking lots are NOT part of the playing area. Crosswalks are allowed. Please use caution.
- If a player gets tagged in his opposing team’s territory, then he will be redirected to jail.
- If a player grabs his opposing team’s flag, but then gets tagged, then he must re-plant the flag where he got tagged. He cannot throw it or manipulate the flag in any other way. The position of the flag cannot be advanced.
- In order to get out of jail, you must perform 30 burpees. A teammate can be at your side to help you complete the burpees. (Example: If I go to jail, I can split the burpees with a teammate to get me out of jail faster. Multiple teammates can be used in this endeavor but this is not recommended.)
- Anyone holding the other’s team flag can be tagged at any location. Neutral zone rules or home territory rules do not apply.
- The first team to plant their flag at the stage of the Amphitheater wins.
- The flags may not be used as a weapon or as a means of discouragement of being tagged. Violating this rule may incur a 100-burpee penalty.

Debrief:
- During the first round, we used the entire Cascades Park which ended up being difficult with 12 people. Team Gators planted their flag in a dead-end location where it was extremely difficult to grab the flag without getting tagged.
- During the second round, both teams were more astute in planting the flags until Peter Pan invoked his Legend card and got immunity to take the Team Gators’ flag.
- Shoes, pants, and socks got muddy on the edges of the small lakes of Cascades Park.
