“D-Day Deck of Death”
QIC: Wiseguy
PAX: Magneto, Doc T, Evel Knievel, Zoolander, Little Debbie, Slowhand, Cathy, Count, Safety, Florence, Private Ryan, Iron Horse, Rev, Crab Legs, Hawkeye, Catfish
Lord’s Prayer @ 0525
17 PAX got up out of their fartsacks to put in some serious work this morning. Just because there are no rucks or coupons does not mean that the workout will be easy.
I think 17 PAX is a new personal best for my Qs. That’s “Jugs-level” popularity. I’ve gotten over the solo Q back on Spring Break, but many thanks regardless!
D-Day Deck of Death
- Each card is assigned an exercise. 4 cards had the same exercises (see chart). There was potential to do 300 reps of a particular exercise.
- PAX who selects the card calls the cadence.
- 75 reps of each exercise. If we got through a quarter of the deck in 45 minutes, that would be impressive.
- To make things worse, I created a playlist entitled “Bad Music” to listen to throughout the entire workout. The playlist is posted at the bottom.
- With the 6 of spades, 6 of clubs, 4 of diamonds, and 4 of hearts, we would have a 75 second moment of silence while in elbow plank. The music would be turned off during this time.

(blue = cards picked; green = moment of silence)
Debrief:
- For the most part, I had to leave the names of the exercises that I knew them best. Otherwise, it confused the living daylights out of me. Here are your translations:
- Mason twist = American hammer
- Pushups = Merkins
- Jumping jacks = side straddle hops
- Exercises we avoided: pushups, squat jumps, sky kicks
- Flutter kicks were selected three times #itcouldbemuchworse.
- At the final card of flutter kicks, it got switched to straight count flutter kicks. I let it slide because we were running out of time.
- I get amped up for all the commemorative events that I do. I was more vocal than normal.
- It seemed like the PAX enjoyed the music much more than I thought. We started it off on a high note with “Baby Shark.”
- The 75-second plank was not selected so I made it mandatory to finish the workout. We had our moment of silence in elbow plank for the many soldiers who died during D-day. Everyone was able to keep his farts at bay for the 75 seconds.
- I did run the “optional” 5K after COT, but no one else took the option… I had to fulfill a virtual run for which I signed up in honor of D-Day.

COT:
- Next Tuesday at Gilchrist will be Wiseguy‘s one-year anniversary with F3. Tuesday Gilchrist was the first ever post. (Has it really only been one-year? I’m surprised I have not sent anyone to the looney ward yet.)
- This a team-based event based on one simple task. There will be trash-talking, flags waving, and many more surprises. If you are going to lose, at least go down being the coolest team. Bring as many coupons of choice you want (except for rucks). I’ll send out another reminder early next week.
- Prayers to Crab Legs as he will be getting the final word on Thursday on whether he is clear for the Tough/Light coming up soon.
- We caught a Catfish! Welcome, Andrew Stevenson who is now named Catfish.
- Rev and Catfish discussed the notion of quitting when the times are tough. When you put the Q word in your mind, think about how others will see you and, more importantly, how your future self will see your current self, if you commit to the quit. Are you comfortable with that?
- Much success in the 2-1-1 Big Bend race ran by Hawkeye this past weekend. Tapout placed first in his division (only because Hawkeye did not enter… #shotsfired).
Update on Qs:
