It was basically just one simple exercise

  • When:  March 11, 2019
  • QIC:  GI Joe
  • PAX:  Cappuccino, Guns N Roses, Speedo, Ron Swanson, Shooter McGavin,  Robin Hood

Seven PAX in the foggy Gloom of the Lion’s Den with no running and no Georgia Street.   How hard could it be?   Especially for a simple exercise…

“It’s not a real workout unless someone bleeds.” –Ron Swanson

THE THANG

Warmup:  arm circles, flappers, etc.

Each PAX picked up TWO Cindies and headed to the track.

1 MILE Farmer’s Carry

Rule #1:   Must walk (i.e. one foot on ground at all times)

Rule #2:  Must grip cinder block and not pass arm through opening (this rule was ditched after 2nd lap)

Rule #3:  If one PAX sets block down, all PAX must perform 5 burpees or other exercise.

Guns N Roses estimated we’d stop once per lap (after we had only walked about 100 meters).

50 burpees, 100 flutters, 25 mountain climbers, 25 crunchy frogs, 25 Freddie Mercuries, and 4 laps later, we finished.  “Lethal simplicity” as uttered by Robin Hood left us scraped up, bleeding, and unable to use a pen for most of the day (at least in my case).

Topper:

Beast–>sumo deadlift–>Cindy swing flow x 10

Pull-ups x 10

Dips x 10

COT:

DO YOU WANT TO FAST THIS LENT?

Fast from hurting words and say kind words

Fast from sadness  and be filled with gratitude

Fast from anger and be filled with patience

Fast from pessimism and be filled dwight hope

Fast from worries and have trust in God

Fast from complaints and contemplate simplicity

Fast from pressure and be prayerful

Fast from bitterness and fill your hearts with joy

Fast from selfishness and be compassionate to others

Fast from grudges and be reconciled

Fast from words and be silent so you can listen.

I shared this post from social media as it offers some guidance of fasting beyond the usual sweets, alcohol, social media, or other worldly enticements.  Each day brings another opportunity to fast from a behavior that pulls us further from God and embrace one that brings us closer.

YHC,

GI
