“Battleship”

QIC: Wiseguy

PAX: Shooter McGavin, Guns n’ Roses, Florence, Bubble Jet, Speedo, Private Ryan, Peter Pan

Lord’s Prayer @ 0525

The Thang:
A 10 x 10 grid was drawn at the picnic tables near the tennis courts.  See picture

The numbers were drawn on the vertical axis from 6-15.  I started at 6 because it’s silly to just do one rep of an exercise.  It’s like you almost never did the exercise at all.

The letters were drawn on the horizontal axis from B-M (skipping all the vowels, because I did not like the exercises that started with A, E, and I).

A coordinate was called by the PAX one at a time.  Each letter corresponded to an exercise.  Each number corresponded to the number of reps.
Hit = same number of reps as the number
Miss = twice the number of reps as the number (maximum number of reps for one coordinate is 30)

After each ship that was sunk, we ran to the flag and back.

The PAX got four of the ships.  They were derailed by the American flag falling after the fourth ship was sunk.  There was a 30 burpee penalty for that.

They missed the 3-space ship in the L column.  See picture.

Debrief:
–  The cadre at GORUCK said this many times.  Sometimes it is better to just act rather than perseverating.  I felt that the key here was to get rid of as many coordinates as possible.  The more you get through the higher the likelihood you will be able to find all of the ships.  I thought there was too much lag time between selecting coordinates.
–  If you noticed on today’s patterns, I left out the extremes.  I was hoping more burpees would get called and every single coordinate of burpees would be double.  That did not pan out.  But it may on the next version…
–  This is a good workout for anyone to use.  The exercises do not need to be the same.  You can just use exercises as your letter coordinates (not necessarily make the exercise start with a particular letter.
–  I did drop a terrible hint at 5 minute left saying that I like to draw “pictures”.  The pattern of the ships looks like a “3”.  Right??
–  ICYWW, 102 burpees were done today.

COT:
Thanks for allowing me to be the substitute teacher this morning.  I hope everyone enjoyed the workout.

I am still recovering from Savage Race.  I am also preparing for my first Jiu-jitsu tournament in April.

I hope we can get a good F3 group to run Savage Race on November 9 in Dade City.  I thought that that was the most fun I have had at an OCR ever.  It’s the appropriate amount of difficulty.  There are mud, slides, and high dives.  Best of all, there are NO burpee penalties.

Bubble Jet eluded to maybe getting a workout at Urban Air which has Ninja Warrior-style obstacles.  Just note that one the “rules” of F3 is that the workout has to be outside, rain or shine.  We can certainly make that an F2.

Peter Pan’s daughter is getting married this weekend.  We hope that all goes well.

Updates on Qs:
Thursday Gilchrist – OPEN
Friday Meadows – Florence (Wiseguy backup)
Friday Southwood – El Jefe (Probable, unless someone else calls it)
Saturday Cascades – OPEN

Don’t forget about March Madness!  See link.  I only have three entries so far.
